Who are you intended audience?

Just about everybody over the age of 12. Tweens will like the book because it is about teens. Girls will like it because the female characters hold their own against the monsters and, sometimes, the boys. Boys will get into the story because it has lots of adventure (girls like adventure, too, by the way). Adults will like it because of the underlying themes of family, sacrifice and questions about how leaders shape our lives. And, last but not least, everyone can relate to one or more of these characters because everybody on Earth knows what it’s like to feel like an odd ball at some point in life.

Why are you posting The Incredible Kronos Machine on Kickstarter?

I am posting this project on Kickstarter because democracy rocks! The internet allows individuals and tools to interconnect and circumvent physical barriers that exist in traditional media. Increasingly, we are discovering that we do not need the gatekeeper’s approval to reach out to one another. And, because of this new freedom, some awesome things can be realized.

When are you going "live" with your Kickstarter campaign?

Right now, we are looking to go live on Kickstarter within the next few days. We are just awaiting Amazon verification. I will post the link on the homepage as soon as we go live.

I see that you are offering an electronic version of The Incredible Kronos Machine. How can I get a physical (hard back) copy?

Right now, my plan is to publish exclusively on all major e-book platforms. I’m going this route for a couple of reasons. First, I heard an estimate recently that over 50% of the U.S. market has either a tablet computer or smart phone. As a result, the market share for e-books is exploding. For my first edition, e-books are a more cost-effective distribution method. Also, market sources indicate tablets will be a popular gift for teens and young adults this holiday season. They will be searching for easily downloadable content.

If you want a hard copy, please let me know. If the demand is great enough, I will do my best to make them available.

What is your business plan for getting the word out on your book?

I’m glad you asked! Here it is. Please let me know if you have any suggestions:

  1. Facebook and twitter networking
  2. Search engine positioning and strategic web ads
  3. My website
  4. Release of more sample chapters on e-platforms in advance of the public release to tease interest
  5. Release a serialized side story called, The Wonderville Chronicles: The Adventures of Charley Farley. Beginning in December, I will release one free short story (approx.. 15 pages) per month on e-book sites. This short story series will take three minor characters from the novel and send them off on a little side adventure.  One of e book publishing sites suggested authors that offer free work experience higher sales of their for-sale work. It is a good way to give me, as a new author, some name recognition in advance of the March release. I will tag each short story with a teaser about the novel’s release.

What are you looking to accomplish by posting your book on Kickstarter?

I am looking to the Kickstarter community to partner with me in accomplishing three objectives:

  1. Securing funding for a professional editor, internet expenses, publishing and copyright expenses- (Please refer to the Challenges section for more specific information) Sponsorship means more than money. Sponsorship is a statement that you believe that a project has value and deserves a chance. A snowflake is tiny. It cannot do much more than melt. But when it joins other tiny snowflakes, the collective result is an avalanche.

  1. Gaining the attention of a professional editor—I admit it. I do not have an editor in mind yet. Kids (and adults) are dying to be captured by stories that read like movies and allow them to invest in the characters through series. I need an editor that will see the vision and assist me in polishing it for the marketplace.

  1. Building community support for this cutting-edge novel—If you are interested in this project, if reading the sample chapter (https://wondervillechronicles.webnode.com/the-incredible-kronos-machine-sample-chapter/ ) excites you, if you want to know what happens to Katie and the IKM, let your friends know. Like us on facebook, follow us on twitter. Be a part of something new—And, who knows?
